Transitioning from military to civilian careers can be difficult and the job market is more competitive than ever, so it’s important to use all the online tools and resources available when searching for jobs.

Webinars and virtual job fairs are helpful tools that can create a lot of new avenues for job seekers. There are also many classes and seminars to help with the military transition.

The Military Officers Association of America offers over 200 classes a year at most of the major military bases. While it’s not always feasible to attend in person, MOAA also offers many classes online to help start the military transition road. In classes, you can create a roadmap to help you follow the steps along the way so you don’t get discouraged while going through the transition.

Coming up, MOAA is offering a Resume & LinkedIn Webinar, October 8th, to help understand how to create your resume and LinkedIn Profile. Sign up for this free webinar to learn why these two pieces are critical in the job searching process. MOAA will also be hosting a Virtual Career Fair on November 19th, 2014. For more information, and to register, go to www.moaa.org/careerfair.

Virtual job fairs are usually free and allow you to attend from virtually anywhere, which limits the excuses for not attending. More and more job seekers are finding that online webinars and virtual classes, job fairs, etc are beneficial and helpful. Being virtual allows you to have more flexibility but still learn the skills and knowledge needed for military transitioning. As the world gets more digital, look for tools and online classes, groups, webinars, etc that can help with the transition.
